A West Loop station can have beans, milk, and a dead ice bin by 11:40 a.m. Nobody “used more coffee.” They filled water bottles, iced catering trays, and cooled a case of LaCroix with the same scoop. The espresso machine still looks healthy. Cold brew and iced lattes stop.

We plan milk, cold brew, ice, and water as separate jobs. Chicago Loop floors skip that split when the ice maker sits next to the coffee and nobody posts a rule. Hospitality ice and coffee ice are not the same inventory.

Put a sign on the bin, then put a second bin if you need it

Coffee ice is for drinks at the station. Building ice or a catering bin is for events. If the floor hosts lunch service in the same pantry, the event needs its own bag or machine. A single undercounter maker cannot serve both on a client Tuesday.

River North creative floors feel this when production brings coolers. The Loop feels it when a conference room orders boxed lunches. Write the rule before the first scoop, not after the 2 p.m. complaint.

Do not diagnose a “small ice machine” until you watch a noon hour

We will not upsize equipment because bottles were filled from the coffee bin. During a free two-week trial, note whether ice disappears while hot pours stay normal. That pattern is etiquette, not capacity. Use the two-week trial FAQ for what to log.

Sanitation follows the scoop

A scoop that lives in a dirty bin and then goes into drinks is a health issue. Hang the scoop. Replace it if it hits the floor. Our sanitation visit cannot fix a floor that treats the ice maker like a utility sink.

What we need on the call

Whether catering uses the same ice, whether a water cooler sits beside the station, and when the bin first hits empty on a normal Tuesday. Mention Loop versus River North if the account spans both.
