A LoDo station can taste fine on Monday and pour a long, sour shot on Wednesday with the same beans. The hopper did not change. The water did. Denver and Boulder buildings swap filters, softeners, and treatment settings without telling the pantry. Morning espresso-versus-cold-brew mix is a different Front Range story. This is extraction after a plumbing event.
We set whole-bean machines for the water we measured at install. We cannot hold that setting if the building changes the incoming water and nobody logs it.
Write the filter date on the pantry wall
If facilities changed a whole-building cartridge, put the date next to the coffee station. Photograph a shot time before and after. If the time jumped, call us for a setting pass. Do not keep pouring and calling it “the machine.”
Boulder campus water is not the same as a Denver tower. Tell us which address changed.
Do not add a new drink menu while shots are drifting
Choice on a broken extraction just creates more wasted milk. Fix water and settings first. A free two-week trial should note any plumbing work during those two weeks. Use the two-week trial FAQ.
The break room readiness quiz is a useful score if facilities already keeps a water log. The Denver and Boulder blog has more local notes.
Scale and hardness still belong to the building
We clean on our cadence. We do not own the softener. If shots keep drifting every month, the water plan is the job, not a larger hopper.
What we need on the call
Last building filter date, a photo of the current shot time, and whether taste changed after a known plumbing visit. We will decide if this is a setting pass or a water conversation with property.
